Opinions needed

Given the course of events that are to play out eventually we decided that to be proactive it's time to start looking at wigs. The purpose of this post is to hear from all you lovely folks who are following this blog. We are looking for opinions on the kind of wig Anna should go for. Ben thinks Anna should go for something different than her current hair style (so as not to bias people too much he will withhold his reasoning's) and Anna is unsure about what she wants. If you feel so inclined please offer your thoughts on the style, color, length (is there more to hair than these three dimensions?), etc., that Anna might consider. Just post your comments below and plan on waiting with bated breath until the decision is revealed!

  1. Why limit yourself to just one? If you are going this route, might as well have fun with it. Matt says, "Go purple, or pink, maybe even a mohawk for fun occasions, halloween or to scare your kids in the morning. Or you could get one that glows when you sing!" Being serious now, my vote is fairly broad: shoulder or chin length, straight or curly, any color, except for maybe red...I don't see Anna as a redhead. Matt also says if you have two that are different lengths, you can have fun at family and church functions by changing them throughout the function and seeing who takes the time to notice.

  2. Hi Anna. I have been thinking of you for the past week since I heard the news. I am so glad you guys are doing this blog so we can stay in touch with what is happening. I just want you to know that I am thinking of you and praying for you every day. You are such a wonderful, fun, optimistic person and I am sure you will remain so during this ordeal. As far as a wig goes, if it were me, I would totally go for a new do! Good luck with everything.

  3. I would go with something different than what you're use to!
I heard this story on the radio yesterday (sunday) as I ran back home to get something. It was talking about this lady who had 6 kids with one on a mission and was diagnosed with cancer. After treatment it went away for awhile but soon came back. More treatment and it wasn't going away. Everyone was telling her to just go home and live what she had left of her life but that wasn't good enough for her, she wanted to live. One day as her faith and hope were slowly slipping she got a call. The caller encouraged her and shared some scriptures with her and his own personal story. He then said that everyone will be praying for her doctors that they will know the best course for her. This caller was Elder Maxwell. A while later after the call a new experimental treatment was suggested to her by her doctors. Today she is happy healthy and still alive! So I won't just pray for you and your family I'll pray for your doctors! Remember to smile and it's okay to cry. Like Michael McLean says, you're just letting go a heartache deep inside.

  4. Anna, When my mom did chemo, she got a wig, but needed to get a special cap to wear under it, because her head was so sensitive. She wore her wig for a couple of weeks then just went without it, and wore hats, because they were more comfortable. If you have your choice, you might want to get one that looks close so you feel more like you, but if you aren't worried about that go for something long and fun!! Maybe blonde or red!! Love you guys!!! D

  5. Well, you know me ... my hair style hasn't changed much in 20+ years! When I finally changed it, it was after months and months of wondering if I dared to chance it and sometimes even getting sick to my stomach just thinking about it! But it's done & I'm happy! So my thought is ... Do whatever you want! Get one for comfort & one for adventure!!! A miracle is coming your way ~ Love ya both!

  8. Man, You guys are the best examples I have ever known! You have always been proactive and a carp diem type. I like that. I just donated my hair to Locks of Love a month or so ago...If I was there in Annas shoes I would go with something different...but not drastically different. Like I wouldn't suggest going with a black afro, or really thick frizzy red hair. Basically, I know you will make a good decision. You have all been in our prayers here. Thinking of you constantly. Miss you guys.

  11. I don't think it will matter what your hair looks like. Your smile will be just a beautiful as always underneath! Thinking of you!! I'm SO GLAD you started this blog! We all love you so much and are here for you!!!

  12. Take my opinion as a grain of salt; but I would say to try a new style out! Maybe at first just a new style, then, if you feel up to something really different, try a new color! I've always wanted to try out short hair but never had the guts to chop it off; something like that might be fun to do...a style you've wanted but haven't yet had. :) love ya.

  14. A lady in our office went through chemo and chose a wig very similar to her color and style. She felt with all the changes going on in her life and with her body, she wanted to not look too different. I suggest you try several styles on and see what you feel comfortable in. Everyone deals with this issue differently. Do what you makes you feel good. My friend also wore a cap under her wig because her scalp was tender. She loved the scarfs when she got home from work, though! Taylor Andrews beauty school will give you a manican head to keep your wig on for free. I will stop and get you one if you would like. Love you and we pray for you and your family every day! Thanks for doing this blog to keep us updated.
